If Dexter Morgan (“Dexter”) and Elenor Shellstrop (“The Good Place”) were blended into one person, you’d get 29-year-old New York native Dolly Mitofsky. Feisty and brilliant, Dolly’s planning a future with her handsome doctor boyfriend, attending celebrity-laden parties with her life-long BFF, and is mere months away from graduating from med school. It’s a lot, but it’s all good—that is until an unexpected tragedy strikes and all of Dolly’s well-laid plans become a moot point. Drowning in self-hatred and shame, Dolly finds herself working as a barista. As her guilt intensifies and her mental health deteriorates, she concocts a pharmacological mixture designed to cause physical agony that she begins to consume in order to punish herself for all her perceived wrong-doings. But after a horrible day at the cafe, she realizes that she isn't the only terrible person in New York City and decides to take corrective action against those she deems to be just as rotten as herself. At first, being Karma’s Little Helper gives her a great deal of schadenfreude, but when she ups the ante to deal with a particularly tough customer, Dolly is faced with the very real possibility that her pharmacological tricks may land her in jail – or worse.
